About DYCMI ...

I was born again through my Sunday school teacher at the age of nine. He was very instrumental in telling me repeatedly that God had called me, although he never explained it to me. He taught me to preach in market places, universities, high schools and at street corners without shame. He had me learn scripts he had written out and preach them. No matter how hard I tried to go along the worldly path my friends seemed to be going on, I never had the release to dive my self fully to the things of the world.

God has worked on me over the years and continues to do so. He always helped me lead his people in small group Bible Studies in various places and at various stages of my growing life.

When my beloved now my husband, Bishop Dag Heward –Mills started the church, I was right there and started having small group bible studies for the ladies in the church. Inspite of the fact that I was a counselor, in charge of announcements, first timers, New Believers school etc, I must say God gave the increase.

As the church developed, many other ministries emanated. Our group became known as Fellowship of Women with Direction International (FWWDI). Not all women in the church were supposed to belong to this group. It was just one of the many ministries in the church. Its main focus was to build a formidable ladies group principally through breakfast meetings and dinner outreaches. This gave rise to a choir of the FWWDI, a follow-up wing as well as prayer wing.

With the branching out of the church both on the national and international frontiers FWWDI consequently branched out. FWWDI was the main pillar on which our daughter you can make it conventions began to be organized. We had our first ever women’s convention in 1990 under the theme ‘The Complete Woman’. The ‘Daughter You Can Make It’ (DYCMI) convention was the brain child of my husband Bishop Dag Heward-Mills who encouraged me to hold women’s conferences under this caption. The conferences, by the grace of God, have been held in Ghana (in places like Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi and in many other regions in Ghana). On the international front, God through the vision he has given to my husband Bishop Dag Heward-Mills concerning the DYCMI conventions has sent us to the United Kingdom, United States of America, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Italy, Australia, The Caribbean among many others.

I am constantly amazed at how far the Lord has brought the Women’s ministry in Lighthouse Chapel International. I am humbled by the fact that God has called me. I genuinely feel privileged to be brought near and separated by God to be a labourer together with Him and to preach to His people. God has greatly honoured me. As Moses the rebels in Numbers 16:9,
“Seemeth it but a small thing unto you that the God of Israel has

  1. separated you from the congregation of Israel

  2. to bring you near to himself

  3. to do the service of the tabernacle of the Lord

  4. to stand before the congregation to minister to them”

Today, a book has been written to us specially by the Bishop, ‘Daughter You Can Make It’. Daughter You Can Make It conferences and materials have made their rounds around various countries. DYCMI conventions aim at making women discover God’s purpose for their lives and to pursue and fulfil that purpose against all odds tailored for females like, challenges in childbirth, marriage, incidents that can abort or minimize God’s call on our lives and the like. We all have a place and a function in His body. True fulfillment comes through doing what we are crafted by the maker for.

Daughters we can make it by His grace and abundant mercies.
